My name is Daniel Austin and I live in the UK. I explore, study, photograph, write about and lecture on Madagascar – a country which I try to visit every year. I am co-author of a number of books about Madagascar and its wildlife. My photographs have been published in guide books, field guides, magazines, tour brochures, museum exhibitions, greeting cards and calendars.
I have lectured about Madagascar both on group tours in-country and in the UK, including at the Royal Geographical Society and the Anglo-Malagasy Society, of which I am Secretary. I am also founder of the Madagascar Library.
If you are interested in licensing any of my photography for your use, please get in touch. Pricing varies according to usage (chosen media, size of reproduction, distribution area, circulation, duration of use, and terms of exclusivity) so in order to give you a quote I will need you to provide details of your project. (If you work for a publisher which has standard photographer rates then I am happy to work within those if the terms are reasonable, and to offer bulk discounts where multiple images are used.)
All of my photos are available in high resolution of at least 2848 x 2136 pixels. I currently shoot primarily on a Nikon D600, which provides high resolution images of 6016 x 4016 pixels (24MP).
All photographs on this website were taken in Madagascar by me (with the exception of a handful of shots of Malagasy species taken in foreign zoos, as stated in their captions).
Go to the gallery index to start exploring my Madagascar imagery. Please remember that this website includes only a small sample of my portfolio, so if you are in need of something specific then let me know your requirements and I will do a custom search.
